An independent counterculture zine

The Vessel Manifesto

To live in the modern world is to be propagandized. The dissemination of information is not for information's sake, but for profit. Six companies control 90% of all the media in America; education systems globally serve the interests of their domestic states. Social media, while containing the potential for popular mobilization, is still beholden to the whim and fancy of each platform's CEO. In the midst of the information age, we are faced with a crisis of information.

Vessel exists as a creative rejection of this crisis. Through the development of a multidisciplinary analysis regarding politics, philosophy, art and science, Vessel allows for multiple points of entry while simultaneously demonstrating the ways in which these varying disciplines are interconnected, both conceptually and practically. This intersectional framework guides our thoughts in promoting the collective betterment, through lenses which are simultaneously empathetic and self-interested, efficient and moral, logical and emotional.

We do not attach ourselves to any specific ideology, but rather position ourselves in opposition to exploitation, oppression, domination and injustice. We demand the world for the world. Thus, we seek to be constructive above all else, to arm the people with the power of education, to help them to challenge all authority above them, to show them how to reject the systems which put them down. The counterculture is not a product of any one person or entity; counterculture emerges from thought, dialogue, and action which does not accept the status quo.

We advocate for all to engage in this dialogue, to talk in their communities, and to recognize that we have far more in common than we do which sets us apart. Everyone who wants to change the world does.
